WPS Office will not start: official repair order

Kingsoft’s article “Failed to start WPS properly” is blunt: something damaged the runtime or a security tool intercepted files. You fix the machine, then you overlay-install.

Help source: Failed to start WPS properly.

1. Scan, then reinstall

Run your existing antivirus/antimalware full scan. Then download a fresh installer from wps.com. Overlay install, or uninstall and install. Avoid “repair tools” from video ads.

2. Built-in Diagnose and Repair

On the error dialog, use Diagnose and Repair. Or open Global Settings from the WPS homepage (if it still loads) and run the diagnostic. This is the light-repair path when you cannot scan yet.

3. Keep working in the browser

Kingsoft’s emergency exit is the web/cloud document editor so your deadline does not die with the desktop client.

If that still fails

  • Create a new Windows user profile — damaged per-user AppData is a classic.
  • Temporarily exclude the WPS folder from an over-aggressive third-party suite after the scan is clean, then add it back.
  • Store/UWP users: uninstall the Store app, reboot, install again from 9NSGM705MQWC.
  • GPU: disable hardware acceleration in settings once you can launch.

What to capture before you smash reinstall

About version if you can still open a dialog. Whether Store or EXE. Whether it died on a specific file or on launch. Recent Windows update. Recent antivirus change. A new file vs an old file. Then follow Kingsoft’s scan → overlay install → diagnose order. Smashing three third-party “repair suites” onto the PC first is how you get a worse mystery.

Safe mode / clean boot

If WPS starts in a Windows clean boot (msconfig / Services), a background app is punching it. Add things back in batches. GPU overlays (RGB lighting, “game boosters”) are frequent villains.

Event Viewer

Windows Logs → Application around the crash time. A faulting module name helps Kingsoft more than “it crashed.” Do not post your whole log on a random forum with serials in it.
