Download WPS Office from official channels only

Kingsoft’s installer is small (the website download is often just a few megabytes and then pulls the rest). The Microsoft Store listing 9NSGM705MQWC is the UWP/store package. There is also an EXE-flavored Store listing. Pick one source and stick to it so updates stay consistent.

Independent site. This WPS Office website is not affiliated with Kingsoft. Installers on this page point to wps.com, Microsoft Store, Google Play, and the App Store. We never host WPS setup files.

Windows install, the way Kingsoft documents it

  1. Confirm you meet system requirements (2 GB RAM minimum, 4 GB disk recommended, dual-core CPU).
  2. Download from wps.com — not a random “WPS 2026 full version” blog.
  3. Open wps_office_inst.exe.
  4. Pick language (top right of the wizard), read the license and privacy policy, then Install Now.
  5. On first launch, decline extra bundles you do not want (PDF default, browser helpers, start-up items). This is the moment most “why did it steal my PDFs?” stories begin.

Microsoft Store vs website EXE

The UWP listing is convenient on locked-down PCs and updates quietly. The website EXE is the full desktop client people mean when they say “WPS for Windows.” Kingsoft also publishes an EXE-oriented Store product (XP8M1ZJCZ99QJW). If features seem “missing” after a Store install, you probably wanted the website build.

How to tell you got the real app

  • Publisher should be Kingsoft / WPS Software Pte. Ltd., not an unknown “setup.exe” from a download portal.
  • The app icon is the red rounded square with the white ribbon W — the same mark we use in the header, taken from the official store listing.
  • Play Store developer email listed publicly: [email protected]; Singapore office address on the store page.

Do not download

  • Keygens, “Pro forever” patches, or modified APKs.
  • Installers that require disabling Windows Defender as a first step.
  • Mirrors that bundle unrelated toolbars.

If you only need a viewer for one PDF, Windows already has Edge. WPS is for people who will actually edit.

The 10-minute post-install hardening list

Most regret is not “the suite is bad.” It is “it now owns every PDF and pops an upsell when I save.” Do this once.

  1. File associations. Settings → Component Management → File Format connection. Clear the third-party compatibility box if Word/Edge should stay in charge. Then confirm in Windows Settings → Apps → Default apps for .pdf .docx .xlsx .pptx. Guide: restore defaults.
  2. Startup. If WPS added itself to Windows startup and you did not ask, Task Manager → Startup apps → disable. Launch it when you edit, not at every boot.
  3. Default save format. Set Writer/Spreadsheet/Presentation to DOCX/XLSX/PPTX. Native .wps/.et/.dps are fine inside a WPS-only shop and hostile everywhere else.
  4. AutoRecover folder. Point it at the same disk you actually use. Test: create a dummy file, kill the process, reopen, confirm recover.
  5. One installer family. Do not stack Microsoft Store UWP 9NSGM705MQWC on top of the wps.com EXE. Two icons will fight over the same extensions. Store vs EXE.
  6. Account. Skip cloud login until you need sync. Local files do not require Kingsoft identity for basic editing.

Can you install completely offline?

The tiny web installer often fetches the rest of the payload. If you image a lab without internet, use the full/offline package from Kingsoft when they publish one. Do not grab “offline ISO” from random forums — that is a classic malware drop.

Work PCs and admin rights

The Store listing states elevated permissions are required. If Group Policy blocks Store or EXE installs, this is an IT problem, not a RAM problem. After a managed install, lock file associations via policy so WPS cannot recapture PDFs on update.

Which “2026” version is this?

Kingsoft ships rolling builds. Wikipedia last cited Windows 12.2.0.13431 (Jan 2024) as a dated stable note, while store listings keep moving. Always read the version on your About screen after install. Marketing years on download blogs are usually SEO, not a SKU name like “Office 2021.”

Trust, without theater

Prefer HTTPS from wps.com or the Store’s signed package. Publisher: Kingsoft / WPS Software Pte. Ltd. Play listing contact: [email protected]. If an installer asks you to disable Windows Defender as step one, close it. ESET has documented historical update-channel abuse by a threat actor in the WPS ecosystem — another reason to stay on vendor downloads and OS patches, not “repack” archives.

Lab / classroom image (20 PCs)

Pick one installer family. Create a local cache of the official package; do not send 20 machines to wps.com at 08:55. After silent-ish install, run a post-script: disable file-format connection, set save defaults to DOCX/XLSX/PPTX, disable startup, pin shortcuts if the curriculum needs them. Lock defaults with Windows policy if you have it. Tell teachers to present from PDF if the free SKU nags on the projector. Keep LibreOffice or Word on the lectern PC as a known-good opener.

Virtual machines

WPS is fine in a VM for testing. Clipboard and shared folders still need your VM tools. Do not snapshot a VM that already has a cracked keygen on the desktop and then wonder why the snapshot is a malware museum.

Updates

Let the official updater or Store updater work. Pause updates only if a new build broke a lab image — then pin the known-good installer you cached. Forum “WPS 11.2.0.1234.rar” files are not a patch policy.

Clean removal before a 365 rollout

Uninstall WPS, reboot, reset .pdf .docx .xlsx .pptx, delete leftover Kingsoft folders in AppData if you do not need cloud caches, confirm a DOCX opens in Word. Uninstall notes.

Publisher and sanity checks (not theater)

On Windows, the downloaded file’s Properties → Digital Signatures (if present) should match Kingsoft/WPS, not “unknown publisher.” Store listings show the publisher in plain language. If the file is named WPS_Office_2026_Pro_Full_Setup.exe from a blog with 40 “download here” buttons, you are not on wps.com. File size that is 800 MB when Kingsoft’s stub is a few MB can still be real (offline bundle) or a bundle of junk — prefer the official page’s own button.

First hour after install

  1. Create hello.docx, type a sentence, F12 to Desktop, open it in Word if you have Word. Round-trip.
  2. Create hello.xlsx with =1+1 in A1.
  3. Open a PDF you care about. If WPS opened it and you did not want that, fix defaults now, not next week.
  4. Turn off startup if Task Manager shows WPS and you did not ask.
  5. Set default save to DOCX/XLSX/PPTX. How.

Enterprises

Packaging, license, data residency, and a banned-list beat any feature table. If security said no, this download page will not talk them into yes. If they said yes, still only official bits, still a written default-app policy.
